The Northern Ireland Karate Board (NIKB) is recognised by Sport NI as the official National Governing Body for the sport of Karate in the Northern Ireland.
As the National Governing Body only our members are eligible for potential selections to become a member of future Olympic Squad.
The NIKB exists to ensure the safe delivery of Karate through all its member organisations. This is affected by Registered Instructors whose training includes Code of Conduct and Ethics; Health and Safety, including Risk Assessment; Safeguarding; Insurance and Enhanced Disclosure along with Access NI checks.

World Class Programme
As the NGB, only our members will be eligible for potential selection to become a member of future Olympic Squads.
To clarify this, the British Karate Federation (BKF) has released a flow chart depicting how the BKF World Class Programme will operate - the flow chart also depicts how the Medal Support Plan operates as a separate entity.

2018 Youth Olympic Games
This summer the 2018 Youth Olympic Games will takes place in Buenos Aeries, Argentina (6-18 October 2018). It will be the first Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. The Youth Olympic Games is the world’s largest multi-sport event for high-performance young athletes. The games aim at inspiring the athletes to embrace the Olympic values of Respect, Friendship and Excellence. Thirty-two sports will be contested during the games and Karate will be making its debut.
